New-York Knicks (20-22) - Philadelphie 76ers (5-37)
The Philadelphia 76ers (5-37) will face the New York Knicks (20-22) in Madison Square Garden in New York City on Monday.
The 76ers have won three of their last ten games, which is slightly better than their rough start to the season when they lost 18 in a row. Fortunately for them, their most recent win was a blowout of Portland, in which rookie Jahlil Okafor was their highest scoring player with a total of 25 points. He is leading the young 76ers team, with an average of 17.4 points per game. They could be without Jerami Grant, although head coach Brett Brown said he expects him to be ready to go. Grant wasn't able to play on Saturday due to a calf injury. The 76ers will look to carry their recent momentum when they head to New York by continuing to flow and adjust their young players to the speed of the game.
The Knicks have dropped their latest two games due to not being able to use their most consistent high scorer, Carmelo Anthony. He is listed as a game-time decision for Monday's game with an ankle sprain. In his place, rookie Kristaps Porzingis and Derrick Williams stepped up to be the highest scorer's in Anthony's absence. If Anthony isn't able to play for one more game, it's likely that Lance Thomas would start in his place.

Charlotte Hornets (18-22) - Utah Jazz (18-22)
The Utah Jazz (18-22) will face the Charlotte Hornets (18-22) at Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte on Monday.
The Jazz have been getting healthier lately, and have experienced a bit of a resurgence as their block machine of a center, Rudy Gobert, recently returned from injury, however their starting power forward Derrick Favors is still a game-time decision due to back spasms. This would be his 14th game missed due to this ailment. Starting in his place is Trey Lyles, who has averaged 4.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per game this season.
The Hornets have had it rough lately, dropping nine of their last ten games, and have lost seven games in a row to Western Conference opponents. This could be attributed to the loss of their starting center Al Jefferson, who had successful knee surgery at the end of December. He is likely to be out for a total of six weeks, and in his place, Cody Zeller and Frank Kaminsky have seen a big increase in playing time. The Hornets will look to turn around their recent struggles on Monday, on the back of point guard Kemba Walker, who is the team's highest average scorer with 19.1 points per game.

Washington Wizards (19-20) - Portland TrailBlazers (18-25)
The Portland Trail Blazers (18-25) will face the Washington Wizards (19-20) in the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. on Monday.
The Trail Blazers are coming off of a blowout loss to the 76ers on Saturday, but they have won three of their four last games. They will get a day of rest before traveling to Washington D.C., and fortunately are quite healthy right now. Damian Lillard has really come on as their star player this season after LaMarcus Aldridge departed to play for the Spurs. Lillard has been the team's highest scorer for seven consecutive games, and is averaging 24.7 points and 7.0 rebounds per game in the 2015-16 season.
The Wizards also have won three of their past four games, and most recently dropped to the Celtics at the last second. John Wall exploded that game, scoring 36 points, and 13 rebounds. Although the outcome was not favorable, it was a hard fought game and showed that the Wizards can compete with top Eastern Conference competition. Otto Porter sat out Saturday's game due to hip soreness, but is listed as a game-time decision for Monday. In his place, it's likely that Kelly Oubre will start in his place if Porter can't play.

Memphis Grizzlies (23-19) - New Orléans Pélicans (13-26)
The New Orleans Pelicans (13-26) will play the Memphis Grizzlies (23-19) at FedEx Forum in Memphis, TN in their annual Martin Luther King Day game on Monday.
The Pelicans come into this game with a modest two-game winning streak and will need to be at their best here. What's been plaguing this team is their road woes, as the Pelicans are just 5-17 away from Smoothie Kings Center. Many people had Anthony Davis pegged as an MVP candidate coming into the year, but it's a possibility that he may not even make the All-Star team in a disappointing season. It's been a myriad of injuries that has really hurt him and his team, as New Orleans is 0-5 without him in the starting lineup. He's back now and this is a matchup he can exploit against a team who struggles with rebounding and guarding dominant frontcourt players.
This MLK Day game means more to this Memphis team than almost any other and they should come out at full force here. It comes at a great time as well, considering they have won seven of their last 10 games. Zach Randolph was inserted back into the starting-five and the team has responded well by winning four of their last five as well. One strange aspect of this run is that they have been doing it without point guard Mike Conley. Mario Chalmers has been filling in for Conley and playing brilliantly in his absence. While Conley was considered doubtful for this game on Saturday, it appears he may make his return, as he was upgraded to questionable on Sunday. Look for Memphis to come into this matchup as a three-point favorite against a talented New Orleans team.

Detroit Pistons (22-18) - Chicago Bulls (23-16)
The Chicago Bulls (23-16) will face the Detroit Pistons (22-18) at Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit, MI on Monday.
The Bulls come into this game reeling by losing four of their last five games. What's even worse is that Joakim Noah is now due to miss the remainder of the season with a recurrence of his shoulder injury. Not to mention, the trade rumors that are swirling around this team with players like Pau Gasol and Taj Gibson involved. This team just needs to take a deep breath and realize that they are still one of the best teams in basketball with stars across the board. What they really need to fix is their defense, as the Bulls have allowed at least 106 points in four of their last five games.
The Pistons are coming off their best win of the season on Saturday, as they beat the Golden State Warriors in dominating fashion. Andre Drummond had yet another 20-rebound game in that win and he's become an unstoppable force this season. The undervalued aspect of this team is their defense, as they rank in the top-10 in numerous defensive statistics. The Pistons also rank second in the NBA in rebounding and that should make for a fun battle here between two of the best frontcourts in the league.
This should be a fun game, as two of the three previous meetings went to overtime with one of them going four overtimes. Look for Detroit to come into this matchup as a small favorite.

Toronto Raptors (25-15) - Brooklyn Nets (11-30)
The Brooklyn Nets (11-30) will take on the Toronto Raptors (25-15) at Air Canada Center in Toronto on Monday.
There were two possible outcomes when the Nets decided to take a huge risk and make all of those big trades a few years ago. The first being that Brooklyn would become a championship city, and the second being that everything will fall apart. It's quite obvious that the second outcome has become reality and it's a sad sight for Brooklyn fans. This team is a shell of itself from a few years ago and it's hard to see things getting any better. If there's a bright spot, it would have to be the recent play of Donald Sloan, who has taken over starting point guard duties recently. Sloan is averaging 8.8 points, 7.8 assists and 3.8 rebounds in limited minutes since taking over four games ago. Even with his solid play, the Nets have still lost seven of their last eight and it's hard to imagine it getting any better here as a big underdog.
The Raptors come into this game winning four-straight and they have solidified themselves as the second-best team in the Eastern Conference right now. The keys with this team are their frontcourt play and their defense. Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan are combining for the most minutes of any two frontcourt guards in the NBA this season. The defense now ranks fifth in the league in points allowed and they continue to stifle teams in their home building. Both of those keys seem likely to succeed yet again here, thus the Raptors coming into this matchup as a 12-point favorite. Another interesting factor here is that Toronto played its last game in London and it's unclear how the team will respond after that grueling trip.

Dallas Mavericks (23-19) - Boston Celtics (22-19)
The Boston Celtics (22-19) will take on the Dallas Mavericks (23-19) at American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX on Monday.
The Celtics have been hot and cold all season, but they come into this matchup hot. They have won three-straight, albeit losing four-straight prior. The offense is the direct correlation, as the Celtics were averaging nearly 10 more points per game in their winning streak compared to their losing streak. Isaiah Thomas has been ridiculous over his last five games as well, averaging 30 points and six assists a game in that span. What makes this team scary is how efficient they are across the board, as they rank in the top-11 in points scored, points allowed, rebounding and assists per game. In the first matchup between these two teams, Boston lost in its home building by four points in a close fought battle.
Dallas comes into this game in the back end of a back-to-back and the only bright spot with that is that the Mavericks starters got a nice rest in the fourth quarter. They were throttled in that game by 29 points against a dominant San Antonio Spurs team. Usually these veteran starters sit in the second half of a back-to-back, but they should be able to play here, as none of them surpassed 28 minutes on Sunday. Dallas also comes into this game losing four of their last six, so this is a game they desperately need to keep up in the Western Conference. Look for Dallas to be a small favorite in this matchup.

Los Angeles Clippers (26-14) - Houston Rockets (22-20)
The Houston Rockets (22-20) will take on the Los Angeles Clippers (26-14) at Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA on Monday.
The Rockets are in the midst of their best stretch of the season, as they have won six of their last seven games. The only loss in that stretch came against the Cleveland Cavaliers and that's nothing to be ashamed about. In that six-game stretch, they haven’t allowed more than 104 points, which is a vast improvement on their early season form. In fact, they went from being the 29th ranked defense to the 25th in that small span. If this team wants to continue to win, they'll have to get it done on the defensive end of the floor.
The Clippers are also playing some of their best basketball of the year, despite losing their most recent game to the Sacramento Kings. Los Angeles had won a season-long 10-straight games prior to that loss and won nine of those without Blake Griffin in the lineup. That's a fantastic sign considering that he is due back sometime this week. The team has gone to a small-ball style of play recently and the scoring has been rising, as they now rank fourth in the NBA in points per game. Look for this to be a chippy game between two Western Conference rivals, as the Clippers should be small favorites.

Cleveland Cavaliers (28-10) - Golden State Warriors (37-4)
The Golden State Warriors (37-4) will travel to Ohio to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers (28-10) at Quicken Loans Arena in one of the showcase games of the year on Monday.
This will be the first time playing in Cleveland since the Warriors got to hold the coveted Larry O'Brien Trophy over their heads. They have only lost four games since, with the majority of those coming recently. Golden State has now lost two of their last three games and the 72-10 season seems to be getting away from them. We all need to take a step back though and realize how ridiculous this team is. Steph Curry is averaging 30 points, 6.4 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game. The most impressive part about those numbers are that he has sat out in 14 fourth quarters this season, due to blowing teams out. Draymond Green has been averaging nearly a triple-double as well and this team is simply hard to match up against. This may be the only game all season in which the Warriors come in as an underdog, but that's just the case here, as they are three-point dogs in this game.
Cleveland comes into this matchup winning nine of their last 10, with the only loss coming against the San Antonio Spurs. What might be their most impressive performance was in their last game, as they held the Houston Rockets to a season-low 77 points in a downright dominant game. That's been the secret to success all year for the Cavs, as they rank second in the NBA in points allowed. The scary aspect of this team is that Kyrie Irving appears to be back to full health, dribbling players out of their shoes since his return. That was the one key player missing in the NBA Finals last year and it should be interesting to see how much of a difference he makes in this matchup.
